150 yers

We are proud of being a successful, caring Cotswold village primary school with excellent links with our parents and the community.

In 2006 we celebrated our 150 year anniversary.

Aims of the School

  • To provide a secure and happy environment which stimulates a desire to learn.
  • To teach independence and self-motivation, providing children with a firm foundation for the future.
  • To provide an environment in which we recognise and cater for individual needs, abilities and backgrounds, and in which talented children are intellectually stretched, and less able children are encouraged to persevere in order to achieve their personal potential.
  • To prepare children to take their place in society by helping them develop a sense of responsibility, self-discipline and good manners.
  • To offer a wide range of challenging situations and experiences which stimulate and motivate, making education enjoyable and enriching.
  • To value all pupils equally and encourage them to work with pride and accuracy throughout their time at Hatherop Primary School.
  • To promote Christian Values

Open Day

We invite you to come and see our school for yourselves. We have an Open Morning every year on a Saturday, usually in May. This is an opportunity to meet our staff, see the children presenting their work and to have a tour of the school. All welcome!

What our parents say

In a survey carried out in October 2007 our parents were asked what they felt about the school. Comments included:

  • ‘It’s a lovely village primary school and I love the way the older children support the younger ones.’

  • ‘The best thing about the school is the enthusiasm of the staff. Children are happy to be there.’
  • ‘The caring nature of the school and individual attention is given to the pupils’
  • ‘The best thing about the school is the size (being small), small classes, familiarity.’
  • ‘It’s a very happy place, with a ‘big family’ feeling.’

Ofsted

Ofsted in 2008, considered Hatherop Primary School to be in the top two grades (Good and Outstanding) in all the categories assessed. The report highlights that ‘pupils’ personal development and well-being are outstanding’. They reported that ‘pupils enjoy school tremendously and have a very positive attitude to learning because the school is a well led and caring community that values and respects all individuals, including them fully and encouraging them to achieve well.’ They considered that ‘preparation for adult life is outstanding’.
