Religious Education (RE) Curriculum

Our school curriculum is grounded in our school Christian values and follows the Gloucestershire syllabus, including the Understanding Christianity Programme of study.

We aim to encourage the children to learn about a range of religions and non-religious world views and the differences these make to how people live, whilst also considering the big questions of life. In our Christian school we want to ensure that the children go out into the world with the knowledge and skills to understand their own beliefs and the beliefs of others and to live in today’s diverse and ever changing world.

In Key Stage One the children learn about the religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In Key Stage Two the children continue to develop their understanding of these religions, plus the introduction of Hinduism.

Regular visits to the local church support the children’s learning and we also arrange visits to Gloucester cathedral, Gloucester mosque and a Hindu temple in the south of Birmingham. Visitors from religious groups are also invited to come to our school to talk about their faith.
