Primary Sports Funding

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in primary schools.  This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

In 2014-15 we were allocated £8,381.

In 2015-16 we were allocated £8,360.

In 2016-17 we were allocated £8,330.

In 2017-18 we were allocated £16,000 approx.

Last year we spent the allocated funds on the following:

·    a specialist swimming teacher

·    transport to swimming lessons and competitions

·    a PE specialist working alongside teachers

·    after school clubs

·    running inter-school competitions, including football and sports hall athletics

Thanks to this funding, the children experienced specialised PE teaching and increased supervision, which enabled full use of the school field and provided professional development for staff. We were able to take part in many competitions and provide a range of after school clubs. Our specialist swimming teacher helped us to win the swimming gala in January 2016!
